Summary
The position of Accounting Specialist provides support to the Finance department and operations teams of Simpson Housing Services. This position will require someone who is very comfortable with transactional accounting work (working with State payments, preparing, and processing rent payments, entering all bills from staff and credit cards for payment, daily filing and scanning of support documentation and support for process improvements.) This is a full- time benefits eligible position.
This position will provide essential support and administration assistance to the Finance Department supporting programs and participants indirectly through data entry, record keeping, and various other related data entry and participant support functions.
Responsibilities
Accounting:
- Uploading MN-ITS and applying MN-ITS payments and adjusting the Intacct invoice. Payments need to be applied by 15th of each month. Should take between 4-5 hours per week.
- Monthly property owner check process. Working with Program Support to receive rent check file to process payments and set up to process via Bill.com before the end of each calendar month. This could be reviewing invoices, ensuring approvals are set up correctly by department to eventually process for payment. Signing up Property owners for ACH payment. 2-3 hours per week.
- Enter all A/P bills daily as they come in, answer any staff queries about payment status. Ensure agency is only paying for one supported and approved invoice correctly for received services or goods. This should take 15-20 hours per week.
- Work with new Divvy card holders to activate their cards and get set up, troubleshoot reasons for declined transactions. Ensure any issues are escalated as needed to get resolved. 2-3 hours per week.
- All other duties as assigned – supporting team member requests, filing and scanning - 4-5hrs per week

Job Requirements:
- Associates Degree in Accounting or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience.
- Three years minimum experience in an accounting or similar position.
- Must pass Department of Human Services NetStudy 2.0 background check.
- Desired experience in working in a non-profit organization.
Salary : $50,000 - $55,000
