Position Overview
The Buyer performs a broad range of clerical and administrative duties supporting the overall objectives of the Purchasing Department, including the purchase of a wide variety of technical and non technical items that are utilized by the various Hospital departments. Work requires considerable mental application and ability to work under pressure. Must be able to coordinate many simultaneous activities.
Education Experience Physical Demands
A high school diploma with major courses in Accounting, Business Law, Principles of Management and Marketing is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics or Business Management is preferred.
Minimum of three (3) years experience in a hospital of like size or larger, or equivalent purchasing experience in a business or institution is required. Four or more years experience in a Purchasing Department in a Hospital of like size or larger is preferred. Familiarization with computerized purchase techniques is required.
No unusual physical effort required. Sits at desk, handles and manipulates office equipment.
