POSITION SUMMARY
Mercy Urgent Care provides non-life threatening medical care to Buncombe and surrounding counties in Western North Carolina. Radiologic Technologist is responsible for diagnostic imaging of patients with a radiology order by an urgent care provider. The effective team member provides professional communication with providers, team members, internal and external customers in accordance with the Core Values of Mercy Urgent Care. Radiologic Technologist provides clinical support to patients, team members, office personal and providers.
LATITUDE
The Radiologic Technologist reports to the Operations Supervisor. This role requires a high degree of accuracy in relation to diagnostic images. The team member ensures patient safety from slips, falls and unnecessary radiation exposure. The team member processes radiology reports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Radiologic Technologist performs the following duties on a regular basis:
Provides quality and accurate imaging of patients and processes radiology reports
Ensures patient safety, including preventing slips, falls, and other safety hazards
Acts proactively, professionally, and responsibly to ensure all patients and staff are protected against radiation exposure
Demonstrates professional skill in use of radiology equipment, including knowledge of its functions, and proper position/techniques that ensure safe, high quality diagnostic imaging
Provides patient support and treatment outside of the scope of radiology to ensure patient throughput is as efficient and seamless as possible for all patients, including but not limited to: breath alcohol tests, drug screens, EKG’s, spirometry testing, audiograms, sutures assistance, splinting, bandaging, medication orders, ear irrigations, referral information, patient discharge, CLIA waived lab testing as permissible, referral appointments, triage, further diagnostic testing, EMR entry, other sterile procedures, and other testing/duties as necessary
Understands and demonstrates the Mission, Vision and Core Values of Mercy Urgent Care in all interactions
Greets patients with a smile, eye contact and introduction
Ensures all written and verbal communication is professional and adheres to HIPAA and Mercy Urgent Care standards
Ensures proper operation of all radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, calling for repairs as needed, and evaluating new equipment and techniques
Exercises high degree of professionalism, self-control, tact, discretion, emotional intelligence, and customer service in all patient and staff interactions as an ambassador of Mercy Urgent Care, maintaining professional working relationships with all team members
Demonstrates the ability to think critically and present innovative ideas to management
Possesses de-escalation and mediation skills between internal and external team members
Works as a team to complete daily duties and prepares radiology room and clinical area for next shift
Pre-emptive action to ensure clinical supplies are well stocked

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Applied Science Degree in Radiology from an accredited college, registry eligible, and current ARRT-R certification. Currently certified or able to obtain certification for Blood Alcohol Testing, Drug Screens, and CPR.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
The physical requirements include:
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
