Large, well established contractor of over 20 years is hiring immediately for Skilled Carpenters with commercial experience. Projects are commercial new construction and renovations in the Northern VA area, DC and Maryland.

Skillforce Inc. is looking for a professional carpenter in the Fairfax, VA area, with the ability to work within a crew of other talented craftsmen. You must be detail-oriented and able to work with minimal supervision. Pay is based on your experience and proven prior work history.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Commercial Carpenter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial construction and a deep understanding of carpentry techniques for larger-scale projects. This role involves constructing, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, and other elements in commercial buildings. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and quality are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Structural Construction: Construct, install, and repair framing, walls, floors, ceilings, doors, windows, and other building elements in commercial spaces.
  • Finish Carpentry: Perform finish carpentry work, including molding, trim, cabinetry, and other detailed woodwork.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements and ensure accuracy.
  • Material Selection & Measurement: Select and measure materials as per project specifications; cut, shape, and assemble materials to form structures.
  • Site Preparation: Prepare job sites, ensure materials and tools are available, and set up necessary frameworks.
  • Safety Compliance: Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to OSHA standards and company policies, using proper protective equipment, and following safe work practices.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other trades, project managers, and clients to ensure quality standards and timelines are met.
  • Quality Control: Inspect completed work to ensure it meets building codes and client specifications.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5 years of experience in commercial carpentry or a similar role
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in using carpentry tools, including saws, drills, and measuring devices; knowledge of materials used in commercial construction
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy materials and equipment, work at heights, and handle physically demanding tasks
  • Attention to Detail: High level of precision in measurements and finishing work
  • Teamwork: Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with other trades and construction personnel
  • Certifications: OSHA certification preferred; carpentry license or relevant trade certification is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with specialized commercial projects such as data centers, schools, hospitals, office buildings, or retail centers
  • Familiarity with green building practices and materials
  • Experience with framing, drywall, concrete forming, and interior finishes

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and on construction sites
  • Standing, bending, and lifting heavy materials for extended periods



Salary : $30 - $35
