Description
The Devonshire Preschool Program is seeking to hire a substitute lead preschool teacher.
The Substitute Lead Preschool Teacher shall work with the assistant teacher with daily classroom tasks and routines. Under the direction of the Preschool Director, participates in planning and implementing appropriate activities promoting the intellectual, social, emotional and physical development of children enrolled in the preschool program aged 2 to 5 years of age. Supervises children closely to ensure their health and safety. Establishes a nurturing relationship with the children and their families. Serves as an appropriate role model to the students. Assists in maintaining necessary records and reports pertaining to those children enrolled in the preschool program as required by DCFS. Maintains an organized and neat classroom, sanitizes tables, toys and equipment. As requested, attends meetings and training sessions and other programs and events that take place outside of the normally scheduled hours.
Hours: School hours vary but at longest are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:30PM ; plus set up/cleanup times.
Qualifications
Must be a mature, energetic, responsible adult at least 19 years of age with strong organizational, presentation, communication and leadership skills. Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and 60 semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) of credits from an accredited college or university with six semester or nine quarter hours in courses related directly to early childhood care and/or child development, from birth to age six. Must have experience working with preschool aged children. Must be able to meet DCFS licensing standards for childcare workers which includes a current medical examination, TB test and criminal background check.
