Position Summary:
The Product Development Manager role is a fast-paced, challenging, hands-on position responsible for evaluating and resolving technical feasibility, design optimization and production issues. He/she manages and coordinates Cannabis product development projects.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science
- At least three years of experience in research and product development in the Cannabis Industry.
- Good knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, planning and resource allocation) with strong team leadership and supervisory skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with computers and software systems.
- Good understanding of Cannabis regulatory requirements.
Skills, Abilities & Essential Duties:
- Researches and monitors existing client base and industry developments and identifies potential new product opportunities, while eliminating stagnant products as needed.
- Oversees all R&D activities, while working with other departments to establish a design, technology, product development and vendor strategy.
- Manages project budgets and prepares financial analysis reports for Senior Management.
- Creates and maintains basic product information, including cost and pricing, case quantity, product descriptions, product status, and organic certifications.
- Ensures that labeling and marketing/promotional literature match product specifications.
- Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
- Resolves technical and production-related problems to assure completion of weekly schedules.
- Monitors production activities and presents recommendations to improve and enhance production and operational efficiency.
- Stays abreast of all local and state regulations for the Cannabis Industry.
- Participates in product recall activities and complaint investigations as needed.
