What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Structural Steel Estimator position at Sletten Companies?
Resolute performance Iron is a specialty steel contractor seeking a Senior Structural Steel Estimator. The majority of our work is in the steel construction industry and solar energy construction. We have an opening for a Senior Structural Steel Estimator. This will include estimating, submitting proposals, and completing sales.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Generates in-house takeoffs and generate detailed spreadsheets for the scopes of work consistent with Sletten Construction standards.
2. Performs material take-offs, organizes data, and research past costs.
3. Helps develop a project budget based on historical data for a conceptual level estimate based on minimal design information.
4. Attends pre-bid meetings and/or site visits as necessary.
5. Produces pre-bid construction schedules.
6. Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors and confirms scopes.
7. Analyzes quotes and makes comparisons from sub-contractors and suppliers.
Qualifications
- Familiar with structural steel fabrication to AISC standards
- 1-3 years structural steel estimating experience
- Construction management degree is preferred
- Ability to read architectural/structural plans and design documents
- Familiar with standard structural steel shapes
- Understanding of estimating and job costs for steel projects
- Willingness to learn
- Organized, attentive, and detail oriented
- Excellent time management skills
- Great interpersonal and communication skills
- Familiar with Tekla power-fab estimating module is a plus
