SmartSky Networks, LLC is seeking a full-time Director, Systems Integration headquartered in Raleigh-Durham office with the ability to work remotely. This role coordinates engineering and technical integration support and associated responsibilities to SmartSky Networks external Service Value Added Resellers (VAR), third party airborne equipment and applications parties, SmartSky Networks Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Digital Solutions, Product Support teams and End-Customers as necessary. In addition, this position may assist with other ongoing initiatives and tasks within the organization. This position provides a vital “face of Company” and demands a highly motivated, professional and ethical attitude, with a strong desire to act as an advocate for the most important people we represent, our customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Management of SmartSky all product level third party systems integration activities and department personnel.
- Program management and workstream coordination between SmartSky Networks and Service Value Added Resellers in support of applications, tools and data interface integration.
- Program management coordination with third party avionics and cabin equipment manufacturers integration efforts to support business and product objectives.
- Support Product Management and Business development roadmap and market analysis efforts.
- Sales team consultation and recommendations on suitable Aircraft connectivity solutions for a wide range of Aircraft airframes to satisfy Customer needs and ensure expectations are realized while promoting SmartSky Networks capabilities.
- Provide technical input to Requests for Information and Proposals, assisting with data for RFI/P creation and review as required.
- Creation and review of systems architecture concepts, diagrams and technical briefs to support applications and services product integration to the SmartSky system.
- Support on-site Partners and Customer meetings and presentations, providing technical knowledge in support of systems architecture and integration initiatives.
- Provide technical data and marketing assistance to the Marketing team in support of Product and Industry literature and applications promotion.
- Assist with Trade-show Product Introductions and training in order to promote and demonstration SmartSky Networks capabilities and solutions.
- Frequent travel (<40%), sometimes with short notice (i.e. <3 days in advance).
- May require international travel on a limited basis.
- Other duties may be assigned as required in support of the Company’s objectives and goals.
Desired/Required Skills, Qualifications, and Work Experience:
- Four-year technical degree or equivalent vocational course.
- Integration, program management, installation, or support experience in one or more of the following areas:
Air-to-Ground, Satellite and/or cellular Connectivity
Avionics systems and interfaces
Maintenance experience
Critical Navigation & Communications systems
In Flight Entertainment systems
Aircraft Wireless systems
Wide area / local area networking systems, planning, traffic management
Applications verification and testing
- Cross-market experience in General/Business and Commercial Aviation Operations, systems and aircraft integration.
- Project Management Professional certification is desired but not required, or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in aviation products related project and / or partner management experience related to systems integration or customer management.
- Familiarity with program management tools such as Microsoft Project and development issue tracking such as JIRA is required.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite of productivity and collaborative tools.
- Must be able to interpret and create technical documentation including but not limited to wiring diagrams, installation manuals and technical bulletins.
- A good written and oral command of the English language
- Must be comfortable in interacting and speaking to both small and large groups of people in a training or program environment.
- Must be able to legally work in the United States of America.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Passport for International travel.
