Truck Equipment Painter/Blaster

SMF, Inc. in Palmerton, PA is hiring!

The position of Truck Equipment Painter will be required to perform skilled work in preparing, priming, painting, rustproofing, applying protective truck bed linings and protective coatings to a variety of fabricated steel components, equipment and customer vehicles in a timely and efficient manner.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY

· Prepare vehicles and related equipment for application of paint or other protective coatings.

· Paint vehicles, parts, and various related items in a fast paced shop environment.

· Select appropriate paint, protective coatings, or mix paints using paint mixing equipment.

· Clean, sand, mask and otherwise prepare surfaces and vehicles for painting and protective coatings.

· Assist with surface, metal, body, primer prep (sanding, cleaning area, minor body filling) and apply touch-ups as needed.

· Maintain and clean paint booth and painting equipment to ensure good working order.

· Maintain and clean blast booth and blast booth equipment to ensure good working order.

· Other duties as assigned by competent authority.

Required Skills:

· Knowledge of the tools, materials, equipment, and techniques of the trade (paint pots, mixing station, sanders, etc.) needed to achieve a quality finish while complying with all applicable safety standards.

· Knowledge of basic auto body repair skills (dent repair, panel replacement, etc.), decal and striping installation, and rustproofing/undercoating systems.

· Good general mechanical aptitude, including the skill to use basic hand tools to disassemble and reassemble components before and after painting.

· Skilled in the use of spray guns and other auto painting equipment; the ability to mix, match and blend paints and to prepare auto body surfaces for painting.

· Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

• Employees are required to supply necessary tools and ANSI approved toe protection footwear.
• Must be able to read, understand, and speak the English language.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
