Drives electric powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift, boom, scoop, fork grapple, clamps, elevating platform to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or remove products, equipment, or materials. Prepare records of shipments and bills of lading for outbound trucks. Prepares records of receipt of incoming material, chemicals, and equipment and update database. Responsible for accuracy of shipping documents and computer data and verifying receiving receipts with open PO’s. Must be able to read, write, and speak ENGLISH (fluently and efficiently). Must have knowledge of or be capable to LEARN COMPUTER SKILLS. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Prepares bills of lading for each shipment and checks and records all items loaded for shipment. 2. Up-dates shipping database. 3. Notifies supervisor or Quality Management department when any discrepancies occur (e.g. Truck temperatures, meat age, etc.) in accordance with SOP’s, HACCP, Company procedures, etc. 4. On receiving materials, checks and counts all items unloaded from trucks or trailers. Up-date computer. 5. Weighs materials or products and records weight on correct forms as stated in our SOP’s. 6. Receive other materials such as sanitation chemicals, other chemicals, and/or equipment. 7. Powered Industrial Truck operation – moves levers and pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus. 8. Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transport load to designated area. 9. Unloads and stack materials by raising and lowering lifting device. 10. Loads and unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, or lifting device. 11. Recharges batteries. 12. Covers all breaks including lunch for stack-off position as needed 13. Other duties may be assigned. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Performs daily, weekly, monthly inventory counts. 2. May move materials on shipping dock with hand truck. 3. Perform various daily cleaning duties (e.g. cooler and freezer, S/R dock, and outside dock area, etc.). QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience – High school diploma or equivalent; two to four years experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Language skills – ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, GMP’s, HACCP, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Mathematical skills – ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Computer skills – to perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Outlook (e-mail software); Inventory Control Software; Spreadsheet software; Order processing and word processing software. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations – forklift certification; valid GA state motor vehicle operator’s license. Other qualifications – must be able to communicate effectively with drivers, dispatchers, and outside individuals.
