SCOPE OF WORK Community Support Services, Inc. is seeking a Community Support Associate for the Marcia D. Smith School and / or therapeutic after school program, an innovative nonpublic special education and community based social, recreation program in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
CSS provides highly structured and individualized services to fifty -five children with autism spectrum disorders and other mild to severe developmental disabilities between the ages of 11-21.
The program is focuses on gaining independence within functional skills, increasing expressive communication skills, expanding self-confidence with peer groups, providing behavioral programming for growth in social / behavioral skills, and providing opportunities for age appropriate inclusion in the community.
CSS is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit charitable organization which provides services and support to children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities residing within Montgomery County, Maryland.
CSS was founded in 1994 and began its mission by working collaboratively with individuals, families, and other lead agencies to design and implement new models of service.
CSS provides residential and day support services, after-school programs for children, educational services through the Marcia D.
Smith School, and personal support services for children and adults in their own homes, parents' homes, and the community.
Hours of work are Monday-Friday afternoons, 2 : 30pm / 3pm to 6pm or after, and opening on weekends for a schedule of approximately 10am - 5pm.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE Support participants to access community resources for socialization and recreation, build social relationships to develop and maintain friendships.
Implement training programs to assist each individual to accomplish his / her goals. Maintain written notes for each participant on activities implemented and goal achievement and inform supervisor on activities and significant events on a regular basis.
Establish a warm and supportive relationship with family members of each individual. Provide instruction and / or transportation to activities for each individual as needed.
Implement service plan goals and objectives including behavioral management programs as written for each individual and maintain documentation of progress REQUIRED TRAINING / PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS Completion and demonstration of techniques taught in the Behavioral Principles and Strategies (BPS), CPR & First Aid training's, other training's as required by CSS which are provided in orientation.
Successfully complete annual re-certification of the BPS. Recommended to have a valid driver's license and a driving record free of any moving violations for the past two (2) years.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Employee must be able to effectively use non-adverse physical intervention strategies with individuals with autism of varying heights, weights and levels of physical strength according to the guidelines presented in Behavioral Principles and Strategies training.
Job Type : Part-time afternoon and weekends Salary : $15.04 / hour with paid required training. Part-time staff are now eligible for quarterly bonuses of up to $220.
