Responsibilities
- Provides advice on strategic themes, messages, and tactics in support of organizations’ goals and objectives through the analysis, planning, coordination, synchronization, and integration of strategic communication efforts; coordinates execution oversight of supporting communication capabilities and assesses the effectiveness of the strategic communication process to reflect the commanding general’s intent and compliance higher headquarters strategic communication. Such communications and information are made available to a wide variety of federal entities, special interest groups, private industry, and the general public.
- Delivers and prepares briefings, presentations, talking/listening points and other information products on the strategic communication process to institutionalize, define roles and responsibilities, and monitor resources for use by the organizations’ leadership. Manages internal technical efforts, with ability to access and leverage external related systems.
- Provides proactive strategic communications to engage and educate key stakeholders.
- Orchestrates/performs communication activities to include but are not limited to: speeches, briefings, talking points, and presentations delivered by organization leaders and staff to wide and varied audiences, but also written material, publications, brochures, social media posts, and electronic information in various forums.
- Supports the planning and implementation of strategic communications and engagement programs to further the organization’s vision, mission, and goals.
- Identify opportunities for creation of visual support for proposals and other communication products
- Supports the Product Lead and Deputy Product Lead, and work closely with all Functional areas and departments as needed within the organization in order to create deliverables.
- Provides responses to media and public inquiries.
- Shape and structure clear, compelling messages to ensure strategic communications, media outreach efforts, and all communication materials are consistent throughout the organization.
- Plans and conducts internal discussion sessions to facilitate strategic communication planning and execution.
- Provides advice and coordination for all formats of public information and communication actions, correspondence, materials, etc., to ensure quality and consistency of all such efforts
- As needed, accompanies senior leaders to important meetings, conferences, and/or special events related to strategic communication and engagement.
- Provides analysis concerning ongoing initiatives to identify areas for improvement and makes recommendations for adjustment in both short and long-range communication planning and programs.
- Provide support for final determinations on what information is suitable for public release.
- Respond to information inquiries, private industry, special interest groups, and the general public, routing questions to appropriate staff and ensuring suitable responses are provided according to the requestor in a timely manner.
Additional Duties:
- Updating and keeping track of organizational events via TEAMS (calendar invitation)
- Aircraft and Personnel Automated Clearance System (APACS) requests for international travel
- Bi-Weekly Staff Call slides for DCO Staff Call
- Coordination of meetings for leadership
- Participate in PEO Comms team meetings as needed (at least monthly)
- Develop yearly trade show calendar
- Weekly SITREPs to deliver to DCO (these then get sent up to PEO)
- Keeping track of all AIT Templates and Letterheads to include PEO, DCO and AIT
Qualifications
- ACTIVE DoD Secret Security Clearance
- Bachelor’s degree preferred 5 – 10 years of Federal Government, DoD and/or Army Subject matter expert in requirements development for Army acquisition systems
- 5 or more years of relevant experience in marketing, advertising or communications; agency experience preferred
- Understanding of Stakeholder Analysis & Messaging
- Understanding of Media & Communication Channels
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Motivated self-starter able to work independently and with teams
- Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
- Ability to think strategically and develop/weigh messaging against a bigger picture
- Strong organizational, project-management, time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Attention to detail and accuracy
