More about the opportunity - As our successful candidate, you will work remotely, make records requests, be in the field at various project locations doing what you love to do, coordinate with team members and project managers, discover, and work to preserve precious resources that will allow for state wildfire resiliency and development. You'll be responsible for understanding the data collection procedures, documentation, presentation, writing cultural resources assessments, and carrying out physical activities such as excavation on-site. As a member of our Archaeology team, you will possess excellent organizational skills and pay close attention to detail. You will efficiently and accurately conduct surveys and field assessments and present your findings and interpretations clearly and concisely.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Undertaking various field methodologies, including archaeological surveys, testing, excavation, and report writing.
  • Identifying various resource types and supporting AB 52 Tribal Consultations and Section 106 Services.
  • Ensuring all archaeological sites and remains are correctly safe and preserved.
  • Carrying out examination, documentation, and preservation of artifacts.
  • Performing analysis and interpretation of data and findings.
  • Supporting the presentation of findings to team members and stakeholders through written technical reports.
  • Supporting timely project deliverables such as completed cultural resources assessment reports and results for tribal consultations.
  • Maintaining a positive working relationship with stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2-3 years of experience working as an archaeologist in California
  • Valid Driver's License
  • First Aid training

Work Remotely: You can work from your remote location. You will travel to field sites when necessary. You will have field time and office time for report writing. You can attend staff meetings remotely.
