What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electronic Design Team Lead position at Soaris LLC?
At Soaris, we put smart things in dumb places. In other words, we design robust, reliable solutions that survive in the harsh environments of our customer’s end applications, such as off-road vehicles, marine engines and vessels, and industrial equipment.
As a Design Team Lead Engineer at Soaris, you will be the key product design interface in the product development process, in concert with a Project Manager and Manufacturing Team Lead. You will own the design scope and lead a team of engineers and technicians through the design process. You will interface directly with a cross functional team from manufacturing, quality, and validation test labs, throughout the product life cycle ensuring the design performance meets the expected requirements and the deliverables are thoroughly detailed and vetted. The focus of this role will mainly be on the development of electronic control products.
· Planning & organizational skills are key to this position. There are many complex deliverables and interactive timing needs over the design process lifecycle. You will need to prioritize & assign activities according to the skills & timing expected for the deliverables and the capabilities & load of the team members.
· It is not required that you are the expert on every technical topic, but you will need to keep an up-to-date working knowledge of all technical aspects of the design and status of the project deliverables. You will represent the design engineers in project alignment discussions with the Project Manager and Manufacturing Team Leader. We find that high performing design team leaders are able to zoom in to the details and out to a bird’s-eye view quickly and efficiently.
· You will be responsible for technical content presentation & discussion with the customer’s technical team - a conduit between Soaris and customer engineers.
A successful candidate will demonstrate:
· They’ve spent at least 5 years in product development of products related to internal combustion engines or vehicles / equipment powered by internal combustion engines. Ideally, they’ve led other engineers through the development process.
· They are self-motivated, execute with attention to detail, adept at collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data, and think creatively when solving problems.
· They possess deep knowledge & interest in hardware and software vehicle systems
· They have electro-mechanical skills, working beyond the pure electrical or mechanical engineering domains
· They recognize and leverage the value of cross-functional partnerships & a structured development process including a project timeline & budget.
