Seeking a Construction Inspector to work in our Jackson, MS location. This part-time role, 16-hrs a week, working 4 hrs/day for 4 days/wk on-site.
Job Responsibilities
- Inspects construction of bridges, buildings, dams, highways, and other types of construction work to ensure that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.
- Measures distances to verify accuracy of dimensions of structural installations and layouts.
- Verifies levels, alignment, and elevation of installations, using surveyor's level and transit.
- Observes work in progress to ensure that procedures followed, and materials used conform to specifications.
- Examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standard and approves installation.
- Interprets blueprints and specifications for contractor and discusses deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance with regulations governing construction.
- Maintains daily log of construction and inspection activities and compares progress reports.
- Computes monthly estimates of work completed and approves payment for contractors.
- Prepares sketches of construction installations that deviate from blueprints and reports such changes
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED; Associate degree in engineering technology or science preferred.
- At least 10-years of experience in construction.
- Proven experience working as a Construction Inspector
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to carry and move 70 lbs.
- Previous experience providing construction oversight for water treatment plant projects.
- Experience only on wastewater treatment plant could be sufficient as long as experience is in areas typical of water treatment plant projects as well, see next bullet.
- Specific areas that the individual would provide oversight on would involve concrete, mechanical equipment (pumps, valves, motors), electrical, instrumentation and controls, sitework, etc.
- Experience with preparing construction inspection logs, reviewing construction drawings/specification to assess contractor compliance, good written and verbal skills, history of working within a construction team/reporting to a construction manager.
- Located in the Jackson area.
