SUMMARY OF POSITION 

 

The Non-Stock Buyer will be responsible for materials and services purchasing required to support manufacturing facilities in the USA to optimize quality, vendor service, optimal supply inventory and cost. Non-Stock Buyer will be involved in negotiations with supply and service vendors, placing purchase orders for some materials and creating strategy for the Solina facilities on which vendors to purchase from. This role will also analyze current spend to determine optimization of supplies, services and vendors throughout the Solina USA facility network to harmonize SKUs and services and leverage overall spend, resulting in value creation by improving quality, service, and price. NS Buyer will be influential in determining the strategy for non-stock purchasing.  

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Works with facility department leads to fully understand supply and service needs and requirements. 
  • Develops standard specifications to meet the requirements for departments and business. 
  • Create approved vendor list for facility personnel to use. Keep vendor list updated.  
  • Develops and administers RFIs and RFPs (as appropriate), analyzes responses, evaluates vendor capabilities, and evaluates vendor relationships (as applicable to procurement) 
  • Works with Procurement to contract vendor materials and services.  
  • Places purchase orders for non-stock materials. 
  • Coordinates with the facilities to define procedures for procuring goods and services. 
  • Analyzes non-stock inventory usages and works with facility management to ensure the proper inventory levels are set.  
  • Develops and oversees replenishment processes using forms/spreadsheets/reports for facility personnel to efficiently order materials from approved vendors. 
  • Reviews purchase requests, monitors contract renewal dates and evaluates vendors. 
  • Identifies cost saving sourcing opportunities to meet objectives. 
  • Works with service vendors to negotiate favorable terms for routine facility services (Uniforms, safety equipment, first aid equipment, pest control, and other facility services) 
  • Develops and maintains relationships with facility management to identify the source for new products needed in the facility.  
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required to meet goals and objectives. 

 

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE 

 

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. Typical qualifications would be: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. A High school diploma or general education degree (GED) combined with education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience has been related to the functions of the job role. 
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Indirect Procurement is a plus. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

 

  • Knowledge and experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. 
  • Prior or existing experience with non-stock purchasing desirable. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all levels of internal and external contacts. 
  • Advanced mathematical skills; specifically good skills in evaluating pricing/value. Can create quantitative reports to demonstrate direction and results.  
  • Computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. 
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and respond to contacts timely and accurately.  
  • Ability to understand baseline spend, sourcing and e-procurement processes and strategies, commercial terms and conditions, and strong data analysis skills.  
  • Must have determination and ability to influence stakeholders. 
  • Customer service skills, able to anticipate needs and exercise independent judgment. 
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and critical thinking skills. 
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable, and collaborative building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

  • The majority of time is spent in an office setting outside of the production facility. The facility environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals. 
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area. 
  • Frequently required to sit; stand; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. 
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and ability to adjust focus. 
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 

Pay Range

USD $60,000.00 - USD $70,000.00 /Yr.
