Job Title: Certified Peer Advocate
Department: Behavioral Health
Location: Bronx, NY 10453
Schedule: Full-time, Wednesday to Sunday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Days Off: Monday and Tuesday
Pay Rate: $19/hr
Position Overview: The Peer Advocate provides support to individuals with mental health challenges by building trust, sharing lived experiences, and promoting recovery. You'll assist with outreach,
advocacy, wellness planning, and community connection as part of a supportive behavioral health team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet with program participants regularly and document progress in clear, timely notes
- Facilitate peer-led support groups and co-create wellness tools with participants
- Assist with housing support, including apartment inspections and medical or social service appointments
- Advocate for participants both within the team and in the community
- Build meaningful, trust-based relationships using empathy and shared experiences
- Promote community awareness and engagement through outreach activities
- Help participants develop coping strategies and connect to resources
- Maintain open communication with the team and report safety or clinical concerns
Qualifications:
- Certified Peer Specialist required
- High School Diploma or GED required
- At least 2 years of experience in peer support, advocacy, or similar roles
- Experience navigating mental health systems and willingness to share your story as appropriate

Pay: Up to $40,000.00 per year
