What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacist position at Sona Pharmacies?
About the Company:
As a pharmacist at Sona, you will play a personal role within our community to ensure that our patients receive the medication and care that they need ranging from routine immunizations to patient consultations. You will also serve as a trusted advisor and mentor to our pharmacy technicians, pharmacy interns, front-end associates, and delivery drivers.
Responsibilities:
- Dispenses prescribed medications and recommends appropriate over-the-counter therapies according to professional standards and state and federal legal requirements
- Directs pharmacy staff engaged in counting, filling, packaging, labeling, and delivering medications.
- Oversees daily ordering and participates in inventory management
- Reviews prescriptions issued by a physician or other authorized prescriber, to assure accuracy and assess the appropriateness of therapy
- Certified to provide appropriate immunization services to walk-in patients (includes active CPR certification)
- Face-to-face meetings with patients and/or their caregivers to discuss specific pharmacy-related issues such as diabetes medication management, COPD management, supplement use, pain medications, etc
- Assess patients’ needs as it concerns medication adherence. This includes counseling, motivational interviewing, and assessment for adherence to packaging solutions
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships with physicians and other healthcare professionals
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy
- PharmD degree and/or residency training is preferred
- Active license to practice pharmacy in North Carolina
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong leader, flexible, good work ethic
- Customer service-oriented and highly organized
- Team player
