JOB DESCRIPTION:
This is a full-time, on-site role for an Estimator responsible for estimating work primarily in CSI Division 6 & 10. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial construction estimating, responsible for preparing accurate and competitive project estimates. This position requires a detail-oriented and proactive individual capable of multi-tasking, meeting deadlines, and solving problems.
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Bid Preparation: Develop accurate and detailed estimates for various commercial construction projects ranging from $50,000 to $10,000,000
- Drawing & Specification Review: Analyze project drawings and specifications to determine scope and requirements
- Quantity Take-offs: Perform quantity take-offs and prepare material and labor cost estimates
- Value Engineering: Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options
- Customer and Vendor Communication: Maintain clear communication with customers throughout the bidding process and work directly with vendors to procure quotes and negotiate cost savings
- Contract Review and Negotiation: Review contracts with project team at time of award and assist in customer negotiation regarding scopes and terms
- Project Handover: Work closely with the project management team to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to project execution
- Attend site visits and meetings to take photographs, document site conditions, gather questions and requests for information, and perform due diligence
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- 5 years of construction experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred
- Strong proficiency in interpreting construction drawings (with an emphasis on Architectural, Interiors, & Structural), specifications, and contracts
- Proficient in mathematics, data analysis, and strategic report writing
- Ability to effectively communicate with management, team members, customers, vendors and trades professionals
- Must be detail oriented, analytical, have strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple bids simultaneously
- Flexibility and willingness to accommodate last-minute requests in a fast-paced environment, a team player, ready and willing to take on whatever challenge is offered
- Expertise with analytic tools, such as spreadsheets, estimating software and tools, and database managers
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook) and the ability to adapt quickly to additional programs & software
