What are the responsibilities and job description for the SM Harvester Assistant Manager position at South Mill Champs?
Position Summary:
Assists the harvesters in the daily work routine as explained in duties and responsibilities section.
Role and responsibilities:
Handles the transition of product from the harvester to the breezeway.
Tallies all product by grade and size ensuring all orders are met.
Set up each harvester and ensure adequate resources for harvesting.
Follows the manager's instructions for harvesters as to orders and specs for the houses designated for their team for that day.
Maintain accurate attendance and performance records, processing all exceptions, changes and/or paperwork in a timely fashion.
Support the growing function by maintaining assigned mushroom houses in a neat, clean and organized fashion.
Assists a harvesting team of up to 25 harvesters.
- Arrives 15 minutes prior to harvester start time to set up house (unless directed otherwise by the harvesting manager), ensure proper containers are present and to check beds quickly for quality and production.
- Oversee the appropriate classification and placement of mushrooms with respect to orders and containers.
- Ensure that beds are kept clean of trash, knockdowns and holes.
- Promoting good housekeeping measures like minimal stump droppage, orderly basket stacking and orderly arrangement of materials.
- Cooperate with Food Safety Trainers and Auditors to ensure all MGAP's are followed.
- Provide an accurate accounting of all baskets picked and orders processed.
- Maintains the 1-hour regular removal of baskets in accordance with productivity standards and deadlines.
- Report any injuries or accidents that impact the crop or personnel negatively.
Preferred Skills:
- Simple math and problem-solving abilities are a must.
- Bi-lingual English to Spanish with the ability to read, comprehend and relay instructions regarding the daily activities of harvesting.
- Good interpersonal skills.
