We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry Level Mechanic to join our team. This position is ideal for individuals looking to kickstart their career in mechanics and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment. The Entry Level Mechanic will assist in the maintenance, repair, and inspection of various mechanical systems and components.
Overview
- South Mountain Creamery is a family-owned dairy farm and home delivery service based in Middletown, Maryland.
- We are looking for a Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet vehicles, agricultural equipment, and systems.
- You will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and PM (Preventative Maintenance) work of our Delivery Trucks and agricultural equipment
- You will work closely with our production, delivery, maintenance, and farm teams to troubleshoot and resolve any issues.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on fleet trucks, vans and various Diesel and Gasoline automotive and agricultural equipment and systems.
- Diagnose and repair any malfunctions or defects on mechanical equipment and systems.
- Install, test, refurbish, replace, and commission parts on company equipment and systems.
- Follow safety procedures and regulations when working not limited to various hand tools, automotive lifts, jacks, welding, and fabrication tools. various chemical lubricants, refrigerants, gases, fuels and all company equipment and property.
- Document and report all work performed, parts/inventory used, and problems encountered on the company's Maintenace software program
- Provide technical support and guidance to other staff members as needed.

- Mechanical Proficiency
- Technical Aptitude
- Must be able Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair Automotive systems
- Provides own personal basic tool set for PM work
- Basic knowledge of Diagnostic scan tools
- A self-starter that can work independently as well as work with a team
- Some experience in a mechanical trade or similar role.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, manuals, and codes.
- Ability to use various tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments.
- Knowledge of Agricultural equipment is a Plus
- Welding and fabrication skills are a Plus
- Able to pass a standard medical DOT physical
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record. (company supplied DOT medical card required within one month of employment)
