What are the responsibilities and job description for the Van Driver-On-Call position at South Shore Charter Public School?
Job Duties:
On-Call School Van Drivers are responsible for safely transporting SSCPS K-12 students to school related events, between school buildings, field trips, athletic practices, athletic games, and other activities. This position is a on-call position which means that you will be asked to work only when we need coverage.
Duties:
•Safely transport children and staff to school related activities and events
•Required to perform pre and post trip inspections and travel log
•Required to maintain a safe and clean vans (interior and exterior)
•Required to check that the van is empty of children at the conclusion of each trip by checking all seats and floors
•Required to secure the van at the conclusion of each shuttle run
•Required to park the van in legal parking spaces at all events
•Monitor vehicle performance and notify Director of Facilities of any issues, needed repairs etc.
•Monitors vehicle gas levels and ensures vehicle is adequately fueled before each departure
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Trustworthy, reliable and have an excellent driving record
•Excellent driving skills
•Ability to maintain order and discipline while driving students
•Must be aware of school’s code of conduct and be able to report any infractions to the Principals
•Ability to exercise caution when children are entering and exiting the vehicle
•Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, directions, guidelines and objections
•Must be adaptable to perform under stress when confronted with an emergency
•Excellent communication skills
•Ability to work with diverse children, in grade K-12, including those with special needs, parents and faculty
•Ability to work effectively as a team member
