What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jr. Pro - Tennis position at South Shore YMCA?
The Jr. Pro – Tennis under the supervision of the Program Director - Tennis, the instructor is charged with effectively and safely supervising the tennis court area in accordance with the following policies established by the South Shore YMCA while also providing a high level of member service.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, run, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch.

PROGRAM EXECUTION
- Supervise all tennis activities while on duty, and assist with set up or break down of tennis clinic and/or lesson transitions.
- Pro must circulate along and around courts, actively looking to offer advice, make corrections, and ensure that each player is safe.
- Pro will dress and act professionally at all times.
- Pro will work in close communication with other pros ensuring that the proper lesson plans are being followed out. Pro will also be prepared if required to run clinics on their own.
- Respond to incidents appropriately, calmly and professionally.
- Record all incidents and accidents immediately after situation has been resolved and you will not be distracted from overseeing their court. (Report emergency immediately to supervisor on duty)
- Follow and enforce tennis rules on and off duty.
- Work with fellow YMCA staff members and treat them with respect.
- Every tennis instructor has the responsibility of reviewing all guidelines for emergency procedures to ensure a prompt and appropriate response to any incident.
- Perform other duties needed as delegated by the supervisor on duty or Tennis Directors.
- Attend all staff meetings and complete skill trainings.
- Enforce all tennis rules in a consistent, fair and firm manner.
- Interact with members in a friendly, engaging, and professional manner.
- Educate members of all policies and procedures of the YMCA and the Tennis Department when needed.
- Be familiar with all information and answer questions about programs, schedules, and policies or direct people to Tennis Directors.
- Ensure that the South Shore YMCA Child Protection Policies are fulfilled.
- Maintain a clean and organized tennis environment.
- Record and report any faulty equipment and/or lapse in maintenance to the supervisor on duty.
- Support volunteers and their daily functions.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Certifications:
- Current PTR or USPTA Certification
- Child Abuse Prevention
- OSHA/Emergency procedures
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Previous tennis instructor experience preferred.
