POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Executive Director at the South Wood County YMCA stewards the Y’s cause, promoting and protecting the brand and reputation as an inclusive organization within the community. The Executive Director oversees the operation of the Y, including, but not limited to: Association Wide Membership, Healthy Living, Aquatics, Camp, & Sports. This individual will also participate in staff development, financial development, and collaboration with community stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Build Strong Partnerships: Cultivate relationships with local businesses, schools, and organizations to expand our impact and integrate our YMCA more deeply into the community, ensuring all segments of society have access to the Y.

2. Effectively communicates community benefit and the Y’s impact for all stakeholders (e.g., staff, volunteers, members, community leaders), supports positive working and collaborative relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.

3. Manages the budgeting process so that directors focus on top priorities and strategic objectives. Ensures operating budgets meet or exceed targets.

4. Develops and directs high-quality member engagement strategies and programs that support association goals and strategies. Establishes plans for the expansion of programs and services, in harmony with overall YMCA objectives and the leadership team.

5. Directs the fund development activities of the Adams branch.

6. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, and leads directors and coordinators. Reviews and evaluates employees’ performance. Develop strategies to motivate employees and achieve department and organizational goals.

7. Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs that support the Y's mission, goals, and strategies.

8. Use data and metrics to analyze gaps, forecast growth opportunities, evaluate ROI on association initiatives, and develop and implement creative solutions to address pressing concerns. Oversee performance tracking systems and dashboards to monitor key performance indicators to optimize and maximize program performance and member satisfaction.

9. Drives the creation, development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative, relevant, fee and free programs to meet the evolving needs of members and the community.

10. Inspire and Empower: Guide and support a passionate team of staff and volunteers, fostering a culture of collaboration, enthusiasm, and growth across the association.

11. Champion Community Programs: Oversee the delivery of diverse programs such as Summer Camp, Youth Sports, and Active Older Adults, ensuring they meet community needs and boost member participation.

12. Assist in all areas, project teams, and duties as assigned by the supervisor.

· Operational Effectiveness: Possesses penetrating insight and strong strategic and critical thinking skills. Invests resources in well-designed innovation initiatives. Creates a structure to deliver organization – wide results to achieve objectives. Develops and implements stewardship strategies. Determines benchmarks and ensures appropriate leadership to meet objectives.

· Personal Growth: Creates a learning organization. Effectively drives change by leveraging resources and creating alignment to expand organizational opportunities. Shares authority and demonstrates courage and humility. Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business, or equivalent, preferred.

· YMCA Multi-Team Leader certification preferred.

· Five or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.

· Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of association budget, marketing, and program development.

· Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement.

· Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments.

· Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.

· Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.

· CPR and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach, and must be able to move around the work environment.

· The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.

· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
