How You Contribute and Succeed
The Insurance Verification Specialist is a valuable member of the care team as they ensure that the patient is informed and secure in knowing their financial obligations in advance of their visit. The general things that they will do to accomplish this goal includes:
- Review chart documentation to ensure patient meets medical policy guidelines.
- Prioritize incoming authorization requests according to urgency.
- Obtain authorization via payer website or by phone and follow up regularly on pending cases.
- Maintain individual payer files to include up to date requirements needed to successfully obtain authorizations.
- Initiate appeals for denied authorizations.
- Respond to clinic questions regarding payer medical policy guidelines.
- Confirm accuracy of CPT and ICD-10 diagnoses in the procedure order.
- Contact patients to discuss authorization status.
- Scan all documentation into patient’s chart.
- Comply with HIPAA compliance policies.
- Other duties as assigned.

We prefer at least two years of experience but are willing to train newer teammates with the right focus on patient care, service, and teamwork.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma
- Previous work experience preferred.
- Current ACLS and/or CPR certification
