POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for processing accounts payable including vendor invoices, travel per diems, and check requests, including creating payment vouchers, matching to PO’s and receivers, and generating checks. Responsible for processing accounts receivable transactions including invoicing, cash receipts, account adjustments, and printing invoices and statements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for understanding and adhering to accounts payable, purchasing and travel policies and procedures.

2. Responsible for understanding and insuring adherence to accounts receivable billing and collection polices and procedures.

3. Responsible for processing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activity, including but not limited to: maintenance of customer/vendor file in an organized, accurate and confidential manner; verification of source documentation; input of vouchers, invoice requests, cash receipts and various account adjustments; run processes and reports; print and distribute checks, invoices, statements, departmental reports; assists in monthly and year end processes including 1099’s.

4. Works closely and communicates with Tribal departments, especially Central Receiving and Purchasing, in resolving various discrepancies with information, documentation, and processes.

5. Assists in the daily and monthly reconciliation of A/P and A/R subsidiary records to the general ledger. Responsible for reporting unresolved issues identified in monthly accounts receivable or accounts payable reports including collection, aged accounts payable, or other accounting issues, and assists in account research as requested by AP/AR Manager.

6. Assists in the development of accounts receivable and/or accounts payable systems including continued analysis and improvement of transaction processes, reporting, filing systems, and audit trail.

7. Responds to inquiries from customers, vendors, employees and Tribal members about invoicing, billing or other transactional issues.

8. Functions as backup to the Cashier position when required or requested.

9. Attends trainings and meeting as required.

10. Performs other job-related duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have an AA/AS in Accounting or related field and 2 years of experience in GL, AP, or AR OR 3 years of relevant combined accounting experience in GL, AP or AR. Accounting experience must be within the last 10 years.

Must have computer experience with working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Must pass a thorough criminal history background check and pre-employment drug test.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Working knowledge of PeopleSoft A/P, A/R module.

General knowledge of including 1099 requirements.

Pay: $15.61 - $17.95 per hour
