Buyer Planner Job Description
Company Overview: Family-owned market leader producing joint compounds and related products for the drywall finishing industry under the Ruco brand name. Located in Tucker, GA for more than 40 years and now with a second production facility in Anderson, SC, success at Southern Wall Products requires punctuality, consistent attendance, enthusiasm, ability to focus, proper and timely communication with supervisors and teammates. This role will be based at the Tucker, GA manufacturing facility.
Role Summary: The Buyer Planner is responsible for purchasing raw materials and finished goods for production needs and to support the company as a whole while reporting to the Plant Manager.
Pay Range: $25-$30 per hour.
Role Requirements:
- Purchasing & Supplier Management:
- Facilitate timely orders for raw materials, packaging, and supplies.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers.
- Evaluate vendors based on cost, quality, capacity, and reliability.
- Generate reports on purchasing commitments and vendor performance.
- Planning & Scheduling:
- Plan material requirements based on forecasting and production needs.
- Schedule production using customer demand and proper communication with the Customer Service department.
- Maintain and update scheduling systems.
- Coordinate daily order scheduling and freight arrangements.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory and take appropriate actions based on levels.
- Follow warehouse and inventory control procedures.
- · Cross‑Functional Support
- Collaborate with Customer Service, Production, and Shipping and Receiving teams.
- Assist with material movement or loading as needed.
- Communicate effectively with Purchasing Manager, supervisors and teammates to support smooth production workflow.

- Thorough knowledge of purchasing policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Sound ethical decision-making.
- Ability to interpret forecasts, market trends, and customer usage data.
- High competency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor‑management skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Operate, inspect, weigh, load, label, replenish, clean, shut down equipment and products as needed including forklifts.
- Lift heavy objects, stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk, and hear.
- Work a reasonable amount of overtime.
- Other duties as assigned.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
