Southside Veterinary Clinic is a locally owned (3 part time vets) clinic located in Chattanooga's Southside. We strive to maintain a low stress, easy going environment for patients, clients and staff alike. Our focus is animal care through client education and preventative measures. Our services include surgery, digital radiology and dentistry in addition to vaccinations and illness management.
The Veterinary Assistant is a key member of the hospital team who supports and assists the veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients and other associates, and the continuity of quality veterinary care.
Starting Basic Skills- We will do all training onsite. More advanced techniques will be slowly added as skills are developed.
Assisting:
Obtain detailed medical history for each visit; record weight and temperature; restraint of animals as necessary; trim nails; help with managing the care of hospitalized animals; prepare & label medications, explain medications to owner; prepare injections (vaccines, ProHeart, medications).
Reception:
Answer calls; schedule appointments; greet customers; prepare invoices for review by superior; process payments following invoice review; follow up with clients as directed; discharge clients.
Hospital Maintenance:
Clean & organize exam rooms; nightly cleaning of hospital facilities; laundry; down time tasks; opening & closing procedures.
Previous work in a related field is preferred but not necessary. A high school diploma or GED is required. Good interpersonal communication, attention to detail, the ability to multitask and a positive attitude are essential qualities for an effective Veterinary Assistant.
