What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality First Assessor position at Southwest Human Development?

Southwest Human Development is seeking a Quality First Assessor as part of Arizona's statewide quality improvement and rating program.

Primary duties:

  • Conduct early childhood classroom observations in child care centers and family child care homes in the state of Arizona.
  • Use Assessment tools including the Environmental Rating Scales and Classroom Assessment Scoring System to evaluate quality of early childhood programs
  • Score the assessment tools maintaining reliability and accuracy
  • Create detailed, clearly written evaluation reports meeting required deadlines

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child and Family development, social services or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of five years experience working as a teacher, trainer, or primary care provider in an early care and education setting with infants, toddlers and/or preschoolers preferably in early care and education settings.
  • Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card preferred OR must qualify for a valid Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Statewide travel is required.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Reliable transportation and proof of current auto insurance is required.
