What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Billing Specialist position at Southwest Skin and Cancer?
We are looking for a part-time medical biller for our clinic in St. George, UT. The hours will be Compensation will be competitive and based on experience and fit. This position is eligible for health insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, and retirement plans.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Using coded data to produce and submit claims to insurance companies
- Working directly with the insurance company, healthcare provider, and patient to get a claim processed and paid
- Reviewing and appealing unpaid and denied claims
- Verifying patients' insurance coverage
- Answering patients' billing questions
- Handling collections on unpaid accounts
- Managing the facility's Accounts Receivable reports
- Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness and obtain any missing information
- Knowledge of insurance guidelines especially Medicare and state Medicaid
- Check each insurance payment is for accuracy and compliance with contract discount
- Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances
- All accounts are to be reviewed for insurance or patient follow-up
- Answer all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
