OVERVIEW:
The Materials Manager is responsible for purchasing, buyer management, raw materials & finished goods inventory management, and for the accuracy of all product and project cost information.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze sales order book, sales forecasts, and historical usage to develop procurement and manufacturing demand plans.
- Develop, recommend, and monitor safety stock levels to support the sales forecast.
- Source and purchase a variety of raw materials, finished goods, and packaging components which meet established cost criteria, quality specifications and lead time expectations.
- Schedule and organize cycle count programs, analyze discrepancies, and take action (s) to prevent recurrence.
- Propose changes to existing procedures following standard change control procedures to improve quality, process or reduce cost.
- Maintain accuracy of the standard cost system in the ERP.
- Identify supply chain opportunities to achieve cost saving goals.
- Communicate with accounting regarding inventory variances and standard cost issues.
- Follow established personnel policies and procedures and perform required personnel actions, including, but not limited to interviewing, hiring, orienting, training, transfers, performance appraisals, disciplinary action, terminations, and vacation scheduling.
- Follow safety rules to protect yourself, co-workers, equipment, and facilities. Report and correct unsafe practices and situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position manages the procurement team.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, finance, logistics, or business administration preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Proficiency in data visualization, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.
- Proficiency in Multiflex ERP, Microsoft Dynamics or other ERP systems preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The employee may occasionally stand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch during shift. Employee will be required to regularly sit, use hand to finger, handle, feel and reach with hands and arms. Employee must be able to occasionally lift and or move up to 25 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This position works in an environment with moderate noise levels.
TRAVEL:
- This position may travel up to 25% of the time
