JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1. Requires valid Driver’s License, appropriate driving record and auto liability insurance that meets the minimum required by the State of Texas Statutes.
  • 2. Requires an associate degree in addiction studies, Licensed as an LCDC by the state of Texas, HHSC.
  • Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in good standing by the State of Texas or other Qualified Credentialed Counselor as recognized by the Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse or a designated Counselor Intern with a minimum of 2000 hours internship and 300hour completed.
  • Requires ability to access clients in locations where at-risk individuals congregate
  • Mental and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position.

Job Description

The Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor position counsels and aids individuals and families requiring assistance dealing with substance use problems, interviews clients, completes screenings, assessments, treatment plans, keeps records and confers with other professionals to evaluate condition of client. Counsels clients individually or in group sessions to assist client in gaining education/skills in overcoming Substance use disorder. Performs skills training and role models for clients. This position will conduct substance use Individual and group sessions for clients who need Substance use services.

3. Able to schedule work activities according to priority.

4. Ability to complete documentation in legible and professional manner

5. Needs to be familiar with community resources and be able to direct persons to the appropriate services.

6. Ability to follow procedures while working in an independent environment.

7. Ability to drive Agency van.

POSITION DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Prepares confidential and non-confidential correspondence in a professional style and format

Perform the twelve (12) core functions of counseling as defined by the Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse

Maintains effective filing system and files necessary information according to Agency and

TX DSHS policies and procedures

Documents all activities provided to clients according to Agency standards and procedures

Communicates all schedule changes to supervisor immediately.

Prepares monthly reports in a timely manner as requested by supervisor.

Prepares time reports and mileage accurately and on time

Conducts community presentations as necessary

Attends all staff meetings and trainings as assigned by supervisor.

Counselor Intern’s will perform services under the supervision of a LCDC or QCC as required by Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse standards

Serves as an advocate for the clients at all times, avoids derogatory and/or inappropriate remarks regarding clients.

Provides curriculum based prevention/intervention programs in assigned schools as directed by supervisor.

Communicate with all community members; such as clients, general public, and other services providers in a friendly, cooperative and professional manner.

Involved with or serves on other local consortiums, coalitions and community organizations.

Provides outreach activities through community education in a culturally sensitive manner and has the ability to provide education to diverse populations.

Assists with letters of agreements for grants.

Reports any emerging trends or unusual situations to supervisor

Assists in monitoring the quantitative goals and targeted risk groups to assure compliance with grant requirements.

Facilitates admission (into program) and/or referral (e.g., inpatient treatment, mental health counseling) to appropriate services to assist clients.

Provides client transportation to activities in a safe and appropriate manner.

Assist in providing alternative activities to clients and their families.

Conducts self in a manner consistent with professional standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

  • Paris, TX 75460: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

  • Clinical counseling: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • LCDC or LCDCI License (Required)
