About the Role
As an Application Support Engineer at Speedgoat, you will work directly with customers to support the adoption of our customizable real-time simulation and testing solutions used in model-based design, rapid controller prototyping (RCP), hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, and embedded control development. Your guidance will directly help ensure customer success and customer satisfaction with their Speedgoat hardware.
This role provides hands-on experience supporting customers in the effective use of Speedgoat products, while working closely with engineers across our Support, Development, Sales, and partner teams. You will deepen your technical knowledge of MATLAB®, Simulink®, and Speedgoat real-time systems by helping users apply best practices, navigate documentation, and troubleshoot product-related issues, while developing strong customer-facing and problem-solving skills. You will represent the voice of the customer by sharing usage feedback, escalating bugs, and contributing insights that inform product usability improvements and roadmap decisions.
What You’ll Do
- Support engineers and scientists using Speedgoat products for real-time simulation, HIL testing.
- Assist customers with applications integrating their Speedgoat products with the MATLAB, Simulink, and Simulink Real-Time software toolchain.
- Prepare and deliver technical workshops and product demonstrations, with mentorship and support as needed.
- Diagnose and help resolve technical issues involving hardware, software, and I/O interfaces.
- Collaborate with the MathWorks Advanced Support Team on complex or escalated technical topics.
- Document solutions and share customer feedback with Speedgoat Development and Production teams.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience using MATLAB and Simulink, through coursework, projects, internships, or professional experience.
- Interest in real-time systems, embedded systems, or control systems.
- Familiarity with analog and digital I/O, data acquisition, or hardware/software integration.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-oriented mindset.
- Clear communication skills and comfort explaining technical concepts.
- Willingness to travel up to 10%.
Nice-to-Have Experience

- Exposure to MathWorks tools such as:
- Simulink Real-Time
- HDL Coder
- Simscape
- Simulink Test
- Familiarity with communication protocols like CAN, UART, SPI, EtherCAT
- Experience with HIL testing, rapid control prototyping, or FPGA-based systems
- Previous customer-facing experience (internships, teaching assistant roles, technical support, or industry roles)
- Curiosity, a willingness to learn, and an interest in sharing knowledge with others
