Job Title: Facilities Specialist
Reports To: District Facilities Manager & Operations Coordinator
Supervises: N/A
Status: Full-Time, 12 Month Non-Exempt
Effective for the 2024-2025 school year
Position Summary:
Spero Academy is looking for a responsible Facilities Specialist to maintain and protect our facilities. The external and internal appearance of a building reflects on the occupants. Overseeing the safety and maintenance of property and ensuring that the property is in compliance with all applicable regulations. Recommending and coordinating
improvements to the property as needed to ensure a safe, functional, and appealing space.
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Maintaining a safe environment with proper lighting, signage, and disability access
● Making general repairs and upkeep to buildings
● Assist Facilities Manager in maintaining a maintenance schedule
● Oversight of contractors and inspecting completed jobs as needed
● Resolving complaints, problems, and requests from staff
● Maintain consistent communication with Facilities Manager with maintenance issues
● Assisting with emergency response and evacuations
● Inspecting the building frequently for signs of damage or wear
● Ability to repair/troubleshoot building troubles
● Helping with sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and other cleaning duties as needed
● Maintain a positive working relationship with all staff
● Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
● Good attendance
● Proven experience as a building manager or similar role
● Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances:
○ HVAC, Security Systems, electrical systems, Boiler License preferred
● Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
● Understanding of Building Codes and Safety Regulations
● Strong skills in the following computer applications: MacBook equipment and NeoOffice products, Google Suite,
Microsoft Office suite
● Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices
● Understanding of building codes
● Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
● Excellent organizational skills
● Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
● Detail oriented
● Positive relationships with classroom teachers and students
● Self-motivated, proactive and resourceful in the completion of work assignments.
● Sense of accountability and ownership for work results.
● Ability to work with limited supervision.
● Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
