What are the responsibilities and job description for the Foster Care Caseworker position at Spero Family Services?
Spero is a multi-faceted social service agency that offers more than 10 programs to individuals, children, and families across the region. Our mission here at Spero is to offer hope, help and healing by providing Christ-centered human services to meet the ever-changing needs of individuals, families and communities.
Our Foster Care Program provides homes in Southern Illinois for children ages birth to 21. Our program also provides ongoing training and support to foster parents, who are an integral part of each child’s treatment team. As a Foster Care Case Worker provide a full array of case management services to clients to ensure individual treatment needs are being met and established goals are being addressed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Case Management: Maintain an active caseload and provide comprehensive case management services for clients as assigned. Duties may include facilitating Child & Family Team Meetings, implementing service plans, coordinating outside services, attending staffings, maintaining client files, and arranging aftercare/follow-up services.
- Documentation: Ensure all documentation and reports are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
- Other: Assist with transportation of clients when necessary and other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Human Services and a valid Illinois driver’s license. Bachelor’s Degree in a Social Work, Child Welfare Employee Licensure (CWEL), 3 years of experience in social services, and previous case management experience preferred.
Skills: Must be organized, able to multi-task, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, basic computer skills, and detail oriented. Must be able to interact with, and relate to, diverse groups of people.
Miscellaneous: Must pass all pre-employment drug screens and background clearances. Must maintain the ability to transport clients per DCFS standards and be able to lift/carry items weighing 15-30 lbs. Must be willing to travel and work flexible hours to meet the needs of the program. Required to work in clients’ homes and community settings.

Pay: $51,836.00 - $54,836.00 per year
