Job Description:
Spherion Mid Ohio, in partnership with The JM Smucker Company, is seeking a Transportation Planner to support their Supply Chain and Logistics teams in Orrville, Ohio.
The Planner will schedule order delivery, manage logistics plans, perform transportation planning, and implement process enhancements while maintaining a focus on cost and service to the business. Key Responsibilities:
- Assess potential exceptions to on-time shipment delivery
- Create action plan to resolve common and complex exceptions
- Work with shippers, carriers, and internal stakeholders to execute transportation plans
- Pro-actively communicate resolution to impacted parties
- Provide carrier performance feedback to internal and external stakeholders
- Meet or exceed Transportation budget goals through route guide compliance, strategic Spot Market use, higher cost/lower performing carrier replacement, and accessorial cost mitigation
- Ensure carrier coverage of all shipments from assigned sites
- Utilize transportation management system to provide optimal load solutions based on total cost-to-serve
- Communicate with shippers, carriers, and internal stakeholders as needed to ensure alignment to transportation plan
- Identify performance issues, develop carrier actions plans, and monitor results
- Document site-specific transportation requirements
- Align transportation operations activities to support site needs
- Maintain the transportation management system
- Engage with the IS team to implement requested technology enhancements as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree is required
- 0-5 years of Transportation, Logistics, or Supply Chain experience
- 0-5 years of experience with scheduling order delivery, transportation planning, or logistics management
- Strong administrative skills and accuracy
- Ability to follow detailed Standard Operating Procedures
- Ability to learn and navigate within several computer systems
- Strong collaborator and communicator; ability and desire to be a team contributor
- Comfortable with professional face to face, phone, and email communication to both internal and external parties
- Problem solving skills
- Attention to detail and follow up skills
- Existing experience utilizing Microsoft Office Tools
Education: Bachelor's degree is required
Compensation: $25-27/hour (schedule differential) - approximately $52,000-$56,160
Schedule and Location:
This position is full time (40 hours per week).
Weekday schedule: Monday – Friday, with occasional Saturdays or Sundays, 8am-5pm ($25/hour)
Weekend schedule: Wednesday-Sunday (or flexible days with mandatory Wednesday, Saturday, and Sundays), 8am-5pm ($27/hour)
This position offers a hybrid work schedule. You will have the opportunity to work a combination of days remotely and in the office at the Smucker Orrville campus (most likely 75% remote, 25% in the office).
