Quality Assurance Specialist Salary Range: $42,244-$46,161

JOB PURPOSE:  Performs routine quality assurance work for programs and services throughout the Center. Activities include but are not limited to: reviewing, examining, and auditing of clinical records to ensure quality and utilization standards; creating and managing data analysis tools and reporting trends and anomalies; and developing training tools to address adverse performance or new standards. Participates in audits, surveys and reviews by external agencies, including preparations, coordination, and corrective action planning and performance improvement activities. Work includes the interpretation of standards and guidelines, participation in internal and external audits, and development and ongoing review of the Center's quality management policies and procedures. This position works under the general supervision of the Quality Assurance Team Lead with latitude for use of initiative and independent judgment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Four-year degree from an accredited college or university with a major in social, behavioral or human services. One year of experience in direct care of adults with serious mental illness, children with serious emotional disturbances, or individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities required, 3 years of direct care experience preferred. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing along with the ability to interpret various standards, regulations and comprehensive policies and procedures. Experience in clinical auditing, compliance activities and analyzing data preferred.

DEGREE AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED (IF APPLICABLE):  Four-year degree from an accredited college or university with a major in social, behavioral or human services.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Good spelling and grammar skills.
• Ability to write progress notes according to standards, assessments, brief mental status exams, memos, letters, various complex reports and miscellaneous other documents with acceptable spelling and grammar.
• Computer ? skilled in the use of technology with Microsoft Office and all Google applications.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS OR CONDITIONS:

• This position must collaborate well with consumers, families of consumers, clinical program directors, referral agencies, state and private agencies, providers of service, vendors, the general public, and especially external auditors as needed.
• Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state.
• Liability insurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business.
• Must complete all training requirements in month in which they are due.
• Availability of a personal vehicle for business use may be required.
• Work will take place within office setting.
• Must successfully pass all background screens as required by the state
• Ability to input data into computer, make calculations, complete paperwork, produce reports.
• Must be physically able to conduct home visits to include walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, and standing for long periods of time if required.
