Job Description Summary:
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who provides care at our Spira Care Center. They are responsible for providing telemedicine and in-person care for patients, including providing on treatment plans, medication, and analyzing test results to provide superior patient care.Job Description:
Work with the primary healthcare team to provide members with high quality comprehensive primary medical care services
Provide telemedicine in addition to in-person care
Rotating on-call coverage for nights and weekends
Leading team-based care and clinical huddles
Order laboratory and radiology tests and refer members to specialists when appropriate
Analyze reports, test results, medical records and examinations to diagnose condition of members and propose treatment options.
Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens to treat identified and documented medical conditions.
Discuss potential side effects of medication/treatment with patients and ensure that all allergy information is up to date before prescribing medication/treatment.
Provide advice to members for lifestyle and diet changes that may improve their health or help to treat the health issue they are experiencing.
Adhere to departmental policies, procedures and objectives, ongoing quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all federal and state health information privacy laws.
Record complete and timely medical records in accordance with our policy
Minimum Qualifications
NP/PA degree from an accredited school
1-2 years of experience in the primary care setting providing the full scope of family medicine services.
Experience working inside a team of healthcare professionals.
Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
Ability to employ a population health lens in delivering care and/or willingness to learn same
Experience building a trusting relationship with a collaborating physician and seeking counsel on clinical decision-making when needed
Experience with billing, coding and documentation practices to meet Medicare requirements
Current Kansas/Missouri License.
Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
3 years' primary care experience
Experience with healthcare quality improvement initiatives.
Interest/expertise in behavioral health.
