Our Therapy Technicians are core members of the treatment team and are integral in ensuring an exceptional end to end patient experience. This includes assisting our physical therapists with designated aspects of patient care and serving our patients to ensure safety, successful execution of exercise, and a positive outcome. Essential Job Duties (These may be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.)

• Attain continued knowledge of patient exercises, proper form for completion, and how to customize patient exercises.
• Instruct, motivate, and assist patients to learn and improve functional activities such as perambulation, transfer, ambulation, and daily-living activities.
• Safeguard, motivate, and assist patients practicing exercises and functional activities under direction of professional staff. Will be required to demonstrate correct activity form or function.
• Observe the patient during various physical activities designed in the treatment plan, compiling progress on patients response to treatment.
• Participate and assist in planning of therapy technician meetings.
• Effectively communicate patient progress and reactions to treatment to the therapist.
• Secure patients into or onto therapy equipment.
• Administer treatment involving application of physical agents, moist or heat packs, and other modality treatments as needed.
• Proactive in attaining knowledge of the application of modalities and the purposes, indications, and contraindications of each.
• Fit patients for and trains patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices, such as crutches, as instructed by the therapists. Adjusts fit of supportive devices, as instructed by the therapists.
• Maintain clean work area and equipment following treatment.
• Transport patients to and from treatment area.

Education and Experience

• Major in Kinesiology, Physical Therapy Technician Certification, prior experience or knowledge as a physical therapy technician, or interest in the field of physical therapy.
• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
