Description
The Value Stream Team Leader is a lead position responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Assembly or Machining department including safety, staffing, maintenance, problem solving, quality, 5S and performance.
Essential Job Functions
- Responsible for leading, managing and holding staff accountable in Value Stream
- Promotes “safety first” mindset across production floor and ensures staff are following safety procedures/guideline
- Oversee quality standards and results. Ensure proper procedures are followed
- Lead by example and in alignment with company core beliefs and values
- Foster an environment of trust, collaboration, accountability and service to our team and community
- Expedite, trouble shoot and promptly resolve assembly line/cell or machine issues
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Provide exceptional customer service by effectively communicating information with internal and external customers
- Utilize process knowledge and tools to drive timely improvement and implement new strategies/process improvements for more efficient and/or cost-effective processes
- Ensures production standards are met and reports any issues to Value Stream Supervisor
- Performance Management of team to include, but not limited to growing team skills and holding team accountable to business needs
- Must be diligent in addressing daily payroll activities including, but not limited to, attendance tracking, time card approval and managing PTO requests
- Supports organizational direction and initiatives to meet department goals
- Review daily production schedule for the department to plan work and personnel assignments for the shift
- Update Daily Job Assignment boards (Magnet Board)
- Support culture and maintain a strong focus on housekeeping and 5S within the department
- Conduct daily Tier 1 and Tier 2 meetings
- Collaborates with departments and shifts across organization
- Attend L10 department meetings
- Ability to efficiently complete standard work daily
- Communicate daily during pre-shift meeting important announcements, metrics, and pertinent company communications to team
- Attend and run VS production and cell boards. Escalate production and resource constraints as needed
- Manage and evaluate direct and temporary employees
- Provide direct employees coaching and proper documentation on performance
- Document and deliver quarterly and end of year performance reviews
- Participate in the requisition and onboarding of new employees
- Drive a continuous improvement culture by involving employees in problem solving, decision making and recognizing them for outstanding work during daily pre-shift communication meetings and ongoing developmental 1:1’s
- Partner with HR to ensure proper procedures are being followed
- Perform other related duties as needed
Requirements
Minimal Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required and Associate’s Degree in related field preferred
- Experience as a complex assembler or machine operator with excellent interpersonal and communication skills preferred
- 2 years experience leading small teams
- Reliable, organized and motivated self-starter with strong problem solving skills
- Willingness to move between buildings and shifts within company to support personal development and business needs
- High level of emotional intelligence including interpersonal communication skills and ability to work with a team
- Strong understanding of Epicor, Word & Excel
- Ability to safely perform job functions in various working conditions
- Ability to understand and follow instructions using the English language
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a consistent basis
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull on a continuous and repetitive basis
- Ability to stand for up to 12 hours
- Excellent hand/eye coordination
- Demonstrated ability to effectively use power tools
- Good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
- Ability to consistently wear personal protective equipment
- Ability to work in production facility with fluctuating temperatures and humidity levels
