Sprague is seeking a Terminal Operator to join our Lawrence, NY team. This position is for a general operator capable of a wide range of duties in a gasoline and oil tank farm/bulk handling facility. Work hours and shifts vary and work is primarily performed outdoors in a maritime environment, 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. Your duties and responsibilities can include, but are not limited to any of the following:

Job Duties:

• Gauging oil and gasoline tanks
• Conducting Detex Rounds
• Assisting with loading and offloading of vessels (connecting hoses)
• Providing rack customer assistance
• Assisting with the maintenance and repair of storage tanks, loading rack and dock
• Assisting with the maintenance of grounds, buildings and/or equipment

Experience/Education

• Proficient in basic math, including fractions
• Working knowledge of mechanical trades preferred
• Basic computer knowledge
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to obtain a valid TWIC card
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of blueprint reading, piping diagrams, boiler, and fuel specifications preferred
• Experience in bulk fuel storage plants preferred
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Willingness to do shift work including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed

Physical activity/strength requirements are demanding and may include:

• Frequent standing, walking climbing-stairs ladders, slopes (i.e., tank ladders/stairs/ramps), grasping/handling.
• Occasional bending/stooping, squatting, reaching forward/overhead, crawling, kneeling, twisting, neck flexion/extension, balancing, sitting, getting in/out of truck.
• Constant lifting/carrying 1-10 lbs., frequently 11-20lbs, occasionally 21-100lbs plus lbs. (i.e. oil, steel parts, spouts, tools)
• Constant pushing/pulling 1-10lbs, frequently 11-20lbs, occasionally 21- 100 plus lbs. (i.e. mooring lines)
• Frequent exposure to outside weather conditions including extreme heat/cold, noise, solvents and petroleum products, chemical agents and fumes and odors and slippery surfaces caused by weather conditions.
• Occasional exposure to dust, and vibrations
• Occasional driving, use of power tools/equipment.

The rate for this position is $32.89 to $33.85 per hour based on experience.
