What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scheduler/Auth Specialist position at Spring View Hospital?
The role of the Authorization/Scheduling Specialist is to schedule all outpatient and inpatient surgical procedures in a timely manner and notify patients of their scheduled appointment times immediately upon knowing the designated time of the surgical procedure. Manage daily the Athena claims accounts receivable work list, as well as complete maternity benefits for all OBGYN servicing offices. Obtain prior-authorization for all in office procedures and assist in obtaining prior-authorization for weight loss medication prescribed for all ordering providers in all OBGYN servicing offices. As well as, obtain prior-authorization for all outpatient and inpatient surgical procedures scheduled and communicate prior-authorization information to hospital scheduling department.
High school Graduate or equivalent. Employee must have experience in hospital registration, billing insurance procedures or a related field and be familiar with surgical and diagnostic testing terminology. Employee must be knowledgeable of avenues available to assist patients with financial aid. Employee must have knowledge of basic clerical functions and able to type 40 wpm with an average degree of accuracy; excellent telephone, communication and public relation skills also required.
