Job Summary: Provides direct care to residents following an individual service plan. Treats each resident with respect and dignity, recognizing individual needs and encouraging independence. Fosters a homelike
atmosphere throughout the community.
Essential Functions
- Assists residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring and assisting to and from activities or meals according to the individual service plan. Allows and encourages residents to do as much of their own care as possible.
- Serves meals to residents requiring assistance in the dining room or apartment. Encourages residents to eat a proper diet and take adequate fluids while respecting the resident’s right to free choice. Records and reports changes in resident’s eating habits to the supervisor.
- Encourages residents to socialize and participate in planned activities or programs and to develop friendships with other residents.
- Maintains residents records daily job duty records in a timely manner and in accordance with company policy and procedures. Reports changes in resident’s physical or mental condition, incidents, etc. to the supervisor.
- Maintains a clean, safe and orderly environment for the residents. Cleans resident’s room and laundry according to schedule.
- Follows proper procedures in emergency situations and responds promptly and positively to resident’s requests for assistance.
- Knows location of each resident, reminds them to sign out when leaving the building and notifies the supervisor immediately if unable to locate a resident.
- Encourages teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers.

Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required and three to six months related experience / training preferred. Knowledge of dementia, particularly Alzheimer's, is helpful.
Management / Decision Making: Makes decisions based on detailed guidelines with limited independent judgement. referring issues to supervisor as needed.
Knowledge and Skills: Can follow written or verbal instructions. Possesses a thorough understanding of the organization and work environment. Ability to communicate in English. Uses good judgement in emergency situations and seeks assistance when needed.
Job Types: Part-time, Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
