  • Design, create, and build Clinical Simulation content using SMC authoring tools.
  • Translate or apply faculty learning objectives and scenario development tools into the SMC competency model.
  • Facilitate and guide the creation of dynamic and logical patient simulations.
  • Assembles and/or reassembles various equipment and apparatus software for the simulations. Including Projectors and recording devices. EE sets up all of the rooms with cameras, laptops and software.
  • Tests various types of equipment and ensures that the equipment is working for 25 simulators. If equipment is not working, identifies needs and contact manufacturer for support.
  • Disassembles equipment to locate and determine malfunctions and take necessary steps to ensure proper working condition. Work with IT department if needed for technology preventive maintenance and repairs.
  • Create and design outcome reports using resultant simulation learner data.
  • Operate simulation equipment with the ability to follow medical aspects of training scenarios and makes appropriate adjustments based on participant actions.
  • Computers, Dell and Apple, DVR, Matrix, TV monitors, video recorders. Software recording of simulation activities and install cameras for each room.
  • Works with a broad array of stakeholders to contribute to the development of educationally sound simulation curriculum (IE- Scenarios).
  • Develop and maintain the SMC website materials and online learning resources.
  • Supervise work study students and if applicable Technical Assistants.
  • Input requests for the scheduling of all simulation rooms into scheduling program.
  • Maintain and post schedule for simulation rooms and master calendar.
  • Assist in preparing and delivering simulation encounters for conferences, either on or off site.
  • Provide assistance to students and faculty using patient simulation.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities relative to ensuring the availability and proper operation of equipment, instruments and operations. Collaborate with faculty and staff to produce, set up, break down, maintain, and organize equipment and materials for specific simulation events.
  • Inspect completed work for subordinates and other technical personnel to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Advise faculty and students as to simulation lab resources, supplies, equipment and related safety procedures.
  • Run simulation events as required.
  • Maintain safety standards with regard to use of equipment and hazardous waste disposal.
  • Provide orientation for faculty, students, and others relevant to appropriate safety measures when working with simulation.
  • Assist in tours and information sessions as required.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
  • Certification/Licensed as a Healthcare Provider, such as EMT, Paramedic, RN, LPN or comparable.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare field.
  • Knowledge of the types and uses of equipment and materials used in a patient simulation learning center. Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, technical experience in the installation, repair, maintenance or testing of electronic equipment; or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions.
  • Self-Starter, detail oriented.
  • Enjoys and has a proven ability for learning new technologies.
  • Must be able to work in a dynamic and growing environment.
  • Web software experience
  • Must possess polished interpersonal and verbal/written skills.
  • Ability to supervise, including planning and assigning work according to the nature of the job to be accomplished

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • Associate's degree in healthcare, computer science or graphic arts preferred.
  • Experience in course development and educational methodology.
  • Experience operating and programming proprietary patient simulation software.
  • Experience with learning management systems and content development technologies such as adobe captivate or Articulate is a plus.
  • Demonstrable and applicable knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design and competency assessment, HTML/AML design/coding and PHP coding experience is a plus.
  • Excellent problem solving skills with ability to analyze situations identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions.
  • Significant demonstrated experience in computer use, set up, troubleshooting and maintenance. Preferred experience and skills with Windows and Macintosh Operating systems.
  • Understanding of analog and digital audio-visual equipment.
  • Understanding of medical equipment, both electronic and mechanical.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot A/V, Medical and Simulation related equipment.
  • Ability to travel to conferences, trainings and seminars as requested by the director.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is generally performed in an office setting with comfortable environmental conditions. Work involves a high activity level and pace and competing time demands.

  • This position frequently needs to move about inside the SIMS Lab/Center, department, and throughout the campus community to access equipment, technology and in service of others.
  • Required to regularly communicate and interact with students, employees, faculty and the public. The position operates a computer and other office and technology equipment such as a copy Computers, Dell and Apple, DVR, Matrix, TV monitors, video recorders, copiers and printers.
  • Candidates must be able to position themselves to maintain SIMS equipment in lab, including workspace areas that are on the surface and attached to ceiling or walls for video recording.
  • Frequently moves technology equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. across campus in furtherance of duties.
