Director, Merchandising - Health & Beauty

The Director of Health and Beauty will be responsible for all aspects of merchandising and financial performance for Sprouts’ Health and Beauty department. This role is accountable for delivering a differentiated, trend forward, natural assortment while driving sales, margin and customer experience. The director role requires a high level of collaboration across multiple teams including Merchandising, Operations, Pricing, Schematics and New Store Planning, Marketing and Merchandise Planning and Analytics.

• Develop and execute a comprehensive merchandising strategy based on analytics, customer insights and trends in the natural health and beauty industry
• Manage a team of category managers and a merchant specialist; provide direction and oversight on strategy while assisting the team with strategy, prioritization, training, and career development
• Optimize pricing, promotional, and marketing strategies to support short term and long term objectives
• Approve product selection and assortment plans; oversee supplier negotiations, product pricing and promotions
• Drive innovation that leads the market and creates meaningful differentiation
• Collaborate with the senior merchandising leadership team to achieve company goals and develop a larger merchandising strategy
• Demonstrate an acute understanding of the competitive market space and develop plans to continue to grow market share
• Directly lead and manage health and beauty merchants towards the achievement of organizational goals; mentor their professional development and evaluate their effectiveness to drive individual and department success
• Lead change efforts and accountability for the team
• Provide regular feedback and challenge the status quo; look for ways to differentiate in the market

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience
• 10 years of retail merchandising experience
• Strong leadership and negotiation skills
• Ability to quickly identify trends and identify best suppliers to maximize business opportunities
• Possess a strong knowledge of Merchandising, Supply Planning, and Forecasting
• Experience implementing systems and ability to improve business processes
• Strong strategic and tactical skills; ability to see the big picture and identify major issues
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to motivate and develop a successful high-performing team
