St. Ambrose School in Cheverly Maryland is seeking a part time Physical Education teacher for the 2024-25 school year.
This role will report to the Principal.

The role of the Physical Education teacher will include:

The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual and psychological growth. This person is responsible for organizing and implementing a physical education program that will result in students achieving success in accordance with Catholic teachings.

Duties and Responsibilities

The following is a list of primary duties and responsibilities. Other duties to be assigned as needed.   • Plan, prepare and deliver physical education activities to facilitate active learning experiences
  • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
  • Prepare classroom for class activities
  • Provide a variety of gym materials and resources for use in educational and gym activities
  • Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of gym materials and equipment
  • Use relevant technology to support instruction and gym activities
  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
  • Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary
  • Participate in level and school meetings, parent meetings
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
  • Attend professional development meetings and Parent meetings as required by the Principal
  • Keep up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Qualification, Educations, and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree or higher from an accredited institution with a license in Physical Education
  • Will consider a recent graduate with appropriate experience in an educational setting
