What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical Education Paraprofessional position at St. Anne Grade School District 256?
QUALIFICATIONS: Possess a Paraprofessional License or Contact the Regional Office of Education to apply for a Paraprofessional license. To qualify for the license the applicant must:
- Be at least 19 years of age and;
- Show proof of one (1) of the following requirements:
- Associate's degree or higher; or
- 60 semester hours of coursework; or
- High School Diploma or GED and a score of 460 or higher on the ETS ParaPro test; or
- High School Diploma or GED and the following scores on the ACT Work Keys test:
- Applied Mathematics/Applied Math — 4
- Reading for Information/Workplace Documents — 4
REPORTS TO: Teacher and Building Principal
JOB GOAL: To assist the teacher in providing well organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The length, terms, and conditions of the individual employment contracts will be determined annually by the Board of Education upon recommendation by the Administration. Other benefits and work conditions are as per established Board of Education policies.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated by the administration in accordance with the Board policy on evaluation of noncertified employees.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the teacher in performing duties which may be clerical, supervisory, maintenance and/or instructional in nature.
- Assist the teacher in overseeing individual and group student behavior and in maintaining an orderly school environment.
- Specific responsibilities for a given assignment to be determined by the teacher and the principal based upon the needs of the classroom instructional program, instructional goals and objectives, the type and number of students involved, and the skills and desire of the involved staff.
- Work with individual students or small/large groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
- Help students with instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
- Distribute and collect materials for instruction.
- Assist with the supervision of students in all school-directed activities assigned.
- Assist with small/large group activities.
- Assist in recording student attendance.
- Assist in collecting and recording lunch money.
- Help students with their clothing.
- Serve as a source of information/assistance for substitute teachers.
- Maintain the same level of confidentiality of information about students as is expected of certified teachers.
- The schedule will be flexible to allow for student assistance as needed throughout the building. This paraprofessional will also assist the staff with the safety of students and the security of the school.
- Other reasonable duties as assigned by the teacher and building principal.
