Job Description
- TITLE: Psychiatrist
- SUPERVISOR: Chief Executive Officer
- HOURS PER WEEK: Part-Time – 8 to 10 hours weekly.
QUALIFICATIONS: NYS active medical license required. Working with persons from diverse
backgrounds and Serious Emotional Disabilities preferred. Bilingual Spanish preferred.
FUNCTIONS: Work collaboratively with the agency’s treatment, specifically the
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Clinicians, and Direct Care Professionals to assess, diagnose and treat mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders for clients enrolled in the Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) and the School Based Day Treatment Program (Day Services) who have Serious Emotional Disabilities.
- RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work collaboratively with the treatment team to conduct initial and ongoing psychiatric assessments/evaluations to youth enrolled in the QRTP and Day Services.
- Conduct regular medication management reviews to ensure that the current medication regimen is effective in treating the identified issues.
- Assist with the development of Individualized Service Plans and Treatment Plans based on assessment data.
- Provide therapeutic interventions as prescribed including the provision of ongoing medication management services as well as crisis avoidance, management and training.
- Directly supervise the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
- Provide consultation and education to agency staff, caregivers, and clients as it relates to the mental health treatment and medication needs of the clients.
- Participate in discharge planning with the treatment team.
- Maintain documentation of services including service plans, progress notes, medication informed consent, quarterly treatment plan reviews, and other required information in the agency’s electronic health record, AWARDS a Foothold Program, in compliance with agency and third-party compliance standards.
- Abide by the NYS Justice Center and the SAI Codes of Conduct/Ethics
- Complete other duties as assigned.
