PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Under the direct supervision of the Dish Room Coordinator, the Dishwasher works as part of the dish room team for a high volume free Dining Room serving an average of 2,500 meals daily. This team is responsible for the cleaning and upkeep of the Dining Room meal service including, cooking equipment, trays, glasses, cutlery and tools. Set up and break down of the dining room and dish room. Some light prep work and other duties as assigned by supervisor. The kitchen relief must demonstrate in their performance adherence to established policies and procedures exhibiting the defined characteristics associated with attendance and punctuality.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Operate the industrial dishwasher.
- Wash cooking equipment and other implements by hand when necessary.
- Provide assistance to the chefs and other kitchen staff as needed.
- Preform opening and closing side work.
- Clean all water dispensers daily.
- Work as part of a team in a fast paced environment.
- Complies with and ensures compliance of all sanitation and safe food handling procedures.
- Facilitates and helps ensure a safe environment (with respect to health and safety hazards) in all work areas. Observes safety procedures and precautions. Maintains awareness of and assists in the identification of workplace and job hazards.
- Attends and participates in relevant meetings and trainings as directed by executive chef
- Adheres to the guidelines of the SAF Safety Program.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Chef, or DR Manager. Working as part of the DR team knowing your presence is an essential function for the team to be successful.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- No experience required (we are willing to train)
- Good listening and time management skills.
- Ability to operate industrial machinery and carry loads up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work in hot, humid environment and on your feet for 6 hour shift.
- Experience working with and/or knowledge of issues affecting chemically-dependent adults preferred.
- Must be able to perform calmly and well in fast paced and high pressure situations.
- Ability to be an active and positive member of a team.
- Knowledge of safe, sanitary food handling procedures
- Good interpersonal, listening, oral communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Good work habits: punctual, reliable, cooperative, and team-oriented.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours (weekend and holiday work required).
