Educational Assistant
SUMMARY |

The educational assistant supports and assists the classroom teacher. The teacher communicates with the educational assistant regarding support tasks that help classroom management or that support student learning.
The educational assistant is oriented and evaluated by the school principal and/or designee. The educational assistant helps in upholding the mission, vision, learning, and discipline philosophy of St. Anthony School.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Individual student help in reading, writing, mathematics
- Small group assistance to students in reading, writing, mathematics
- Limited grading of some types of student work
- Translating orally or writing (if bilingual)
- Assistance for student access of bathrooms Assistance in student cafeteria processes
- Playground and lunch supervision
- Assist Substitute teacher with classroom coverage in the absence of the teacher
- Calling parents as directed by teacher or office personnel
- Other duties assigned by the principal or designee
- Designing bulletin boards Working on projects
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS |
- The educational assistant should possess at least a high school diploma and preferably possesses post high school credits in a college or technical school program.
- Ideally the educational assistant has experience in working with youth and has some awareness of the climate and culture of a school.
- The educational assistant is encouraged to read and observe technological presentations about classroom processes, learning, and student behavior and will be required to take part in any professional development offered by the school.
- Bilingual candidates are preferred.
- Catholic candidates are preferred.
